A news tribute to a well-known Denver couple who were killed in a car wreck over the weekend noted that their home had been “a non-stop salon, always full of interesting people.” Then today, I talked with a co-worker who pointed out that another local celebrity’s home is always the site of creative, famous or interesting people coming and going. It made we wish that my own home was like that, filled with writers, artists, astronomers, outdoormen, scientists, adverturers, card sharks, comics, professors and the like, in part so that my two children would be exposed to them and grow up telling stories about the crazy people who were always around. But in truth, it is probably too late for me to suddenly meet or know or even like people like this. I rarely have people over (mainly because I don’t know that many people) and when I do, it is usually the same close group of friends who I feel most comfortable with, and who certainly have their own crazy and creative fun to offer at all times. Still…maybe I should have more parties…

Stop whining Shikesman! Appreciate the friends you have and be glad you have a few you are comfortable with. Most of us don’t even have that.

If it makes you feel better, next time I’m at your house I’ll tell your kids about the time I stuck Bitternerd with a plasma grenade from all the way across the bridge on Narrows in Halo 3. Thus, they will realize they too can accomplish anything.
